Speed Writing Articles
I‘m a huge believer in writing content to build credibility, gain exposure and generate leads for business. It doesn’t matter if I’m doing this for my own sites and services or to promote those of my clients, writing books, white papers and articles works. I also realize that not everybody loves to write and that some find it time-consuming and avoid doing it at all cost. In this article I’m going to share with you a way that you can reap all the benefits of creating great content without writing any of it yourself. Curious? Good.
I’m pretty selective about who I work with. I purposely search out clients that love what they do and have a certain degree of passion for their particular field of endeavour. I do this because I know from my own experience that everything flows much more smoothly if I’m engaged and adamant about what I’m doing while things tend to be more like work if I’m not. The same goes for clients.
Have you ever noticed that when you love what you’re doing you can talk about it all day long? I’m guilty of this. I’ll get talking to friends about marketing stuff until their eyes glaze over and they disappear in the washroom for forty-five minutes at a time. I’m not suggesting that this is a good thing at all but if you do have the same level of passion for what you do you too will get excited and find it easy to talk about. If this is true, then why would you have any difficulty writing about it?
The problem lies in our school system. Remember English class when the teacher ridiculed every word you wrote? You were taught that writing had to be perfect and as a result it became work. You scrutinize every word before you get anything down on paper and nothing ever gets started.
Compare this to how you talk. Have you ever noticed that when you’re talking about something that you understand you never think, “Man, I said that wrong.”? It just doesn’t happen, does it? That is because you’re not scrutinizing your speech like you do your writing.
How does all of this relate to writing quickly?
I’m glad you asked. If you don’t like writing material, speak about it. Choose a topic that you’re going to cover and write down a few key points that you want to touch on. When you’re ready, press ‘record’ on a digital recorder or on Audacity (it is free) and just talk about the topic you’ve chosen. Don’t try to correct yourself, just let ‘er rip.
When you’re done you’ll have a digital file of your material. Now you just need to find someone that can transcribe it for you. If you don’t know anyone personally, visit elance or rent-a-coder and you’ll be off to the races. Be sure to check references because the quality varies from person to person, as do the prices. Plan to go through at least three or four people before you find someone you’re happy with.
Once you get this system down, there will be no stopping you. Sure, you’ll have to pay a bit to get the words transcribed and there will be a learning curve involved but the upside is that you’ll have no more excuses for holding back. You can get all the knowledge that is inside your brain into a book or articles and before you know it, you’ll have more prospects than you’ll know what to do with.
