Vancouver Winter Olympics Making Canada Proud

Vancouver is hosting the winter Olympics at the moment and while there have been a few glitches, I’ve been impressed with everthing so far.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Nobody could have written a better script for the first few days of competition.  Let me set the stage for you.  No Canadian has ever won a gold medal on Canadian soil. That includes both Winter and Summer Games and the media was building this up to the hilt.  It was actually quite annoying. (more…)

We Can All Learn a Little from Our Best Friends

This came through to me in an email and I thought it was great.  I’ve always said that we can learn a lot from dogs.  Sorry, I don’t know who wrote the original story but it is something to think about.

big dogA  Dog’s Purpose   (from  a 6-year-old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to  examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound  named Belker. The  dog’s owners, Ron,  his  wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane,  were  all very attached to Belker, and they  were  hoping for a miracle.

One of My Favourite Sites Ever

I’ve been in a weird mood lately.  Maybe it is because of Halloween or that another Christmas is coming up but for some reason, a thought popped into my head.  Despair.  Complete and utter Dispair.

Years ago, Dispair.com was one of my favourite sites.  A friend of mine would always buy my Christmas gifts from that site but I hadn’t visited it for a long time.  I wondered if it was still going.  Sure enough, it is.

If you don’t want to check out Despair.com, I’ve highlighted some of my favourites here.  Of course, you really should see the pictures that go with these ‘demotivators’ but you’ll get the gist.

RISKS
If you never try anything new, you’ll miss out on many of life’s great disappointments.

PROBLEMS
No matter how great and destructive your problems may seem now, remember, you’ve probably only seen the tip of them

PERSEVERANCE
The courage to ignore the obvious wisdom of turning back.

STUPIDITY
Quitters never win, winners never quit, but those who never win AND never quit are idiots.

WORTH
Just because you’re necessary doesn’t mean you’re important.

Log Cabin Dog Houses

I was surfing for pictures of log cabins as it has always been a dream of mine to own one. It will be out in the middle of nowhere, overlooking a crystal-clear lake and only accessible by float-plane.  How Canadian is that, eh?

log_cabin_front_gifIn any event, while looking for ideas, I came across this.  A log cabin for dogs.  Brilliant!

I was so impressed that I contacted the owner of the site to see if he or she needed any help with marketing. That was just a few moments ago so nothing back yet.

I thought is was a great idea and pet products are certainly a hot market on the Internet.  I hope they do well.

To see the original picture of this log cabin feel free to visit Petite Retreats.

Hilarious Test of Your Mental Ineptitude

This is classic. I just received this via email from a friend and I wasted the last fifteen minutes of my life (unsuccessfully) proving that I’m not a moron.  Take two seconds, try it and see if you can do any better.

HOW SMART IS YOUR RIGHT FOOT?

You have to try this please, it takes 2 seconds.  I could not believe this!  It is from an orthopedic surgeon…This will boggle your mind and will keep you trying over and over again, to see if you can outsmart your foot but, you can’t..  It’s pre-programmed in your brain.

Without anyone watching you, and while sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

Now, while doing this, draw the number ’6′ in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so!!! …And there’s nothing you can do about it! You and I both know how stupid it is. But, before the day is done, you are going to try it again, if you’ve not already done so.
