Stuck for Content for your Site?

November 19th, 2008 Eric
All bloggers get stuck for things to talk about at one time or another. Such is life.

However, that is no reason to stop blogging. A great way to come up with new content is to monitor what other bloggers or sites related to your niche are talking about and just “riff” off of them. Make sure you include a Trackback and you’ll not only find something to talk about but you’ll also get another link back to your site.

Not easy enough? How about having the ability to cut and paste the content from another site (giving them full credit, of course) and posting it on your site without having to login to your own blog?

Clipmarks does just that. This is a very helpful tool and a whole lot of fun.

This post took my less than 30 seconds to create. Good-bye excuses for not updating your blog.

Does Anybody Doubt that Google Owns All of Us?

November 18th, 2008 Eric

Google is such a smart company it is scary. I have no contact or affiliation with Google but when I hear about how they operate, the products that they pump out and the profits they generate, it doesn’t take a genius to figure that they’ve got it together.

The story that I like about Google is that they insist that employees spend 30% of their time “day-dreaming” about new ideas that can help the company. I don’t know if this is true or not but again, look at the results.

Google Earth is not new anymore but if you haven’t seen or heard about it, here you go. Google Earth allows you to enter any address or location in the world and Google will give you a satelite image of it. We’re not talking a 50,000 foot view either. We’re talking, zooming right down to street level.

It is an unbelievable product. What does it mean to marketing? Well, off the top of my head, if you offer travel services you can offer clients a video preview of your destinations. The details that Google Earth is able to produce are amazing and your clients will definitely get the feeling of being there.

Are any of us safe from Big Brother Google? I don’t know but the technology is pretty amazing!

A lot of you told me that you enjoyed the Dancing Matt video. Here is a video he made using Google Earth to show everyone some of the places he’s danced. Very cool stuff.

Crazy Little Thing Called “Jing”

November 15th, 2008 Eric

I was in a quagmire the other day. I wanted to turn a bunch of the stories from the Trek Escapes website into audio podcasts and slide shows so I could put them on their site and blog as well distribute them across the web to get links and traffic.

The problem is that the consultants are spread across the country and explaining how to set up and use software via email is a pain in the butt.

How Easily Can You be Fooled?

November 13th, 2008 Eric

Talk about an effective marketing message. The first time I saw this video, I literally said, “No way!!” and I had to watch it again. Obviously, with over half a million views on YouTube, I’m not the only one to have this reaction.

If you haven’t seen it before and you don’t watch this video twice, I’ll buy you a beer. Is it worth 54 seconds to find out what I’m talking about?

Funny Business Cards that Get Serious Attention

November 12th, 2008 Eric

Whether you’re marketing on the web or in person, you need attention. One way to get attention is to be different. Your website design should be unique, your product and approach to the market should be something to get people talking and your marketing materials should stand out.

Note that I’m not saying that they should be expensive. I’m saying that they should stand out. Normally, this just means different but ideally, your marketing material should also reflect your personality and approach to business.
